Innovative Tailgating Vehicle, The Beer Bike- A Tailgating Recipe for fun
Who does not love a great tailgating innovation? We as Tailgaters are always on the look out for better food and a better way to get the party started. So today I ran across a local story about the Beer Bike.
So here is the gist of the vehicle. It can transport 2 kegs of beer and enough ice to keep it cold. The beer actually runs through a cooling unit to ensure a nice and crisp, cold beverage. The beer is dispensed through a tap as expected and the top of the tap area is a small wooden bar top. With an inviting bar area, your friends can “step up to the bar” and be served a frothy beverage.
The bicycle also accomodates a warming bag to transport a stack of pizzas as well or any other great food item from your Tailgating Recipes that you want to keep warm. Beer Bike is human powered with 9 gears and moves along a safe speed (you don’t want to go too fast with precious cargo).

I think what makes our book a bit more unique than other books is that you don’t need alot of culinary skill or extra tools to provide a variety of great tasting foods when tailgating. Other recipe books require alot of extra “prep work” and just seem to be too burdensome. Don’t get me wrong, the recipes are great, but are more suited for your backyard instead of from the parking lot.
With all activities in life, there were a few things I learned in the process. Even the best laid plans don’t always work out as one would hope and when you present a little bit of yourself in your work, it never will be to your own standards. Putting the tailgating recipe book together has been quite the experience. The plan has been to release it online this week and that may or may not be possible, but it has been super exciting as the timeline starts to shrink.
This past weekend, I worked on the cover for the book. Originally I considered having a graphic designer create the cover, but in working up concepts, it just felt natural to give it a try myself. It is simple and hopefully is colorful enough to grab some attention.
Tell me what you think about my first design? This is pretty much the final draft with the exception of a black line border around the entire image.
