Innovative Tailgating Vehicle, The Beer Bike- A Tailgating Recipe for fun

March 1, 2010 · Filed Under Guides, Home · 1 Comment

beerbikeWho does not love a great tailgating innovation?  We as Tailgaters are always on the look out for better food and a better way to get the party started.  So today I ran across a local story about the Beer Bike.

So here is the gist of the vehicle.  It can transport 2 kegs of beer and enough ice to keep it cold.  The beer actually runs through a cooling unit to ensure a nice and crisp, cold beverage.  The beer is dispensed through a tap as expected and the top of the tap area is a small wooden bar top.  With an inviting bar area, your friends can “step up to the bar” and be served a frothy beverage.

The bicycle also accomodates a warming bag to transport a stack of pizzas as well or any other great food item from your Tailgating Recipes that you want to keep warm.  Beer Bike is human powered with 9 gears and moves along a safe speed (you don’t want to go too fast with precious cargo).

Tailgating Recipe Book is available now!

Today is a very exciting day for us.  We are proud to be able to release to the public our very own Tailgating Recipes Book, “Great Food From Our Playbook”.  This new book is packed full of great recipes that can easily be prepared while tailgating or quickly prepared and brought along with you to the game.

Read Below For The Special Pricing and Free Bonus!

I think what makes our book a bit more unique than other books is that you don’t need alot of culinary skill or extra tools to provide a variety of great tasting foods when tailgating.  Other recipe books require alot of extra “prep work” and just seem to be too burdensome.  Don’t get me wrong, the recipes are great, but are more suited for your backyard instead of from the parking lot.

With all activities in life, there were a few things I learned in the process.  Even the best laid plans don’t always work out as one would hope and when you present a little bit of yourself in your work, it never will be to your own standards.  In all honesty, I had hoped that this Tailgating Recipes Book would have been available for purchase back in early September.   Looking back, I am glad we did not rush this edition.

One thing I did want to do with the release is reward the folks who followed us in the process and progress of our efforts with a super special price and “something extra”.

Please make sure you sign up for the Newsletter.  It is published once a month and includes 1 Free Tailgating Recipe from me and 1 reader submitted recipe.  Also included are a great tips section and usually a special pricing offer or coupon code for tailgating equipment or fan gear.

Putting the tailgating recipe book together has been quite the experience.  The plan has been to release it online this week and that may or may not be possible, but it has been super exciting as the timeline starts to shrink.

This past weekend, I worked on the cover for the book.  Originally I considered having a graphic designer create the cover, but in working up concepts, it just felt natural to give it a try myself.  It is simple and hopefully is colorful enough to grab some attention.

Tell me what you think about my first design?  This is pretty much the final draft with the exception of a black line border around the entire image.

    Tailgating Recipes

Whether you are a beginner tailgater, an experienced veteran or someone in between, it’s universally understood that tailgating is all about food, friends and your favorite team. If you want to serve great food, you have to have great tailgating recipes to keep your offerings varied and delicious. The first challenge is finding recipes that are capable of being prepared and or cooked in the out of doors and within a portable kitchen. Secondly, a person does not want to spend their entire time before the big game cooking when they could be enjoying the social aspect of the tailgating party, so making the process relatively easy is important as well. Finally, when it is time to go watch the game or pack up to head home, it certainly is no fun to be burdened with a large degree of cleanup.

So what makes a great tailgating recipe?

The first thing you want to look for planning a tailgating menu is taste. Flavorful offerings that excite the taste buds are what keep hungry fans coming back for more. Plan for a variety of tastes from sweet to spicy and from the mild to bold tasting category. Even better yet, allow your guests to layer on or customize their level of comfort and taste with various dips, spreads and condiments.

The second attribute of great tailgating recipes lies in the ease of preparation. Some recipes may require a bit of initial preparation in your kitchen at home, while others will go right to grill, pot /pan or serving tray. The best advice is to seek out a balance between menu selections that require kitchen preparation and those that can easily be performed once you arrive and get set up. The nice thing about today’s modern conveniences is the use of plastic storage containers and ziploc style bags allows the cook to prepare and store many great ingredients and even full spreads from the comforts of their own kitchen and then transport them to the game in a cooler.

The final quality of a great recipe for tailgating is that of one that does not require a multitude of special accessories or equipment. Loading and unloading a vehicle of these burdensome items can be a chore and may prevent you from bringing along other items of comfort or preference. As you plan your tailgating menu, take special note of what equipment will be needed and how you may take advantage of using some items multiple times or in a different way.

Now that you know what to look for in a recipe, check out a few of these recipes.
